We invite passionate fiber arts instructors to submit applications to teach at the 2026 Bloomington IN Wool & Fiber Festival, taking place in Bloomington, Indiana. Join us in celebrating the art of fiber with our vibrant community of knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, dyers, and crafters of all skill levels!
We’re seeking a diverse range of workshops and demonstrations to inspire beginners and seasoned artisans alike. Share your expertise in any fiber arts discipline, from traditional techniques to innovative crafts, and help make our festival a hub of creativity and learning.
We welcome proposals in a wide variety of fiber arts, including but not limited to:
Dyeing: Natural dyeing (e.g., using local plants like marigolds or indigo), acid dyeing for vibrant colors, or experimental eco-dyeing.
Knitting: Beginner stitches, cables, lace, Fair Isle, or advanced techniques for shawls and garments.
Crocheting: Amigurumi, lacework, Tunisian crochet, or modern textured patterns.
Spinning: Wheel or drop-spindle techniques, working with wool/alpaca blends, or creating art yarns.
Weaving: Rigid heddle, tapestry, or multi-harness loom projects for all levels.
Felting: Wet felting, needle felting, or creating 3D fiber art.
Non-Traditional Crafts: Macramé, pom-pom or tassel-making, yarn embroidery, or yarn-wrapped decor.
Mixed Media: Combining fiber with other materials (e.g., beadwork, leather, or wood).
Sustainability in Fiber Arts: Upcycling yarn, eco-friendly practices, or low-waste crafting.
Feel free to propose unique or niche topics that showcase your creativity and expertise!
Engage Our Community: Reach a diverse audience of beginners as well as more advanced artisanal crafters.
Showcase Your Skills: Highlight your work and expertise.
Flexible Formats: Offer hands-on workshops (1-3 hours, or all day), short demonstrations (30-60 minutes), or talks to suit your teaching style.
Support Local Craft: Be part of a growing festival that celebrates Bloomington’s fiber arts scene.
Compensation: Instructors receive a set fee stated in the application, as well as promotion and advertising by the festival.
Deadline: Applications are preferred before March 31, 2026 but are accepted on a rolling basis.

Selection Process: Proposals will be reviewed by our committee, prioritizing diversity of topics, skill levels, and alignment with our eco-friendly mission. Applicants are notified on a rolling basis dependent upon date of application.
