This workshop is designed for knitters and crocheters who would like to learn a little about natural dyes and have a fun experience creating their own hand-painted yarn. You’ll learn about the important steps in natural dyeing, multiple different dye materials, and explore your creative side as you hand paint your own skein of fingering weight, superwash merino-cashmere-nylon yarn — perfect for a hat or a cowl! A second skein is also available for an additional cost of $20.

Artist’s bio: Linda and Michelle have been working together as researchers and teachers for 25 years, first as professors in an academic medical center, and now as natural dyers in Color Me Happy Fiber Arts Studio. Linda grew up sewing, gardening, and doing cross-stitch before finding knitting more than 25 years ago. Color Me Happy combines our love of fiber, nature, color, research, and teaching, as we have been dyeing yarn and teaching natural dye classes since 2022. We believe that color and creativity are key influencers of our mental and physical health, and that making things with natural materials is one way to ground and connect us to the ecological systems around us in ways that make us all healthy and happy.
