Interested in raising animals for their beautiful natural fibers? This introductory workshop provides an overview of the basics of raising sheep, goats, alpacas and rabbits for fiber production.
Learn about the unique characteristics of each species, including their fiber types and potential. We will cover topics such as housing, fencing, nutrition, equipment, health considerations, shearing, fiber processing, breeding fundamentals and marketing your fiber and fiber products.
Whether you are planning to start or expand an existing fiber operation, this workshop will provide practical information to help you choose the right animals for your goals and successfully manage them from field to fiber.
All materials are supplied.

Artist’s Bio: Cheryl (Sheri) Creech Kersey grew up on a dairy farm in North Central Kentucky, where a lifelong appreciation for agriculture took root. Concurrent with a career as an Architect, Cheryl has developed a passion for fiber arts and shepherding. She is a certified Fiber Grader, Sorter and Classer. She enjoys sharing her knowledge about fiber animals, fleece evaluation and sustainable fiber production. Cheryl maintains a flock of Shetland Sheep on her farm in Commiskey Indiana.
