Hei!
In this class, we will be weaving on a warp-weighted loom. We will explore weaving with different materials to make a small bag. A warp-weighted loom is a type of vertical loom that is woven top down. It was used to make sail cloth with linen as well as clothing. Vadmal (Wadmal) was a coarse, heavy wool fabric that was fulled for protection against the elements. The fabric was also used as currency to trade for other goods. Varafeldur was used for capes, mantels and bed coverings using wool locks.
All materials will be provided. You will have the option to purchase your loom at the end of class if you would like to explore further weaving.
